On Monday, July 20th, Governor McMaster and Lt. Governor Evette, along with several legislators from around the state, were on the HPCS campus to announce the formation of the new SAFE (Safe Access to Flexible Education) Grants Program. This program allocates $32 million to provide grants of up to $6500 to students attending private schools in SC based on family income. This program will be available this year to the HPCS families who qualify!

At Hampton Park, we’ve been praying for school choice legislation in SC for years, and this program mirrors the school choice bill introduced to the legislature this year, which ended up being delayed because of the pandemic. God has been at work in wonderful ways to make true school choice in our state closer to a long-term reality than ever. We believe the governor’s new one-year program is the first major step!
